Small Business Case Study: Dogville Daycare & Boarding
When Dogville Daycare & Boarding began to think about making their building more energy efficient, they reached out to PSO first! Owner, Dr. McNac, asked us to help with upgrading the lighting in the entire 4,000 square foot facility. According to ENERGY STAR, lighting makes up 17% of all electricity consumed in U.S. commercial buildings. So, switching to LED lighting was a no-brainer for Dogville Daycare & Boarding since LEDs:
- Provide the same brightness as traditional bulbs but use 90% less energy
- Last 15 times longer, which means financial savings on operations and maintenance.
- Produce very little heat compared to incandescent bulbs, which release 90% of their energy as heat while CFLs release 80% of their energy as heat
After an energy audit was completed on the facility, a total of 61 new overhead LED lights were installed by a verified energy consultant – saving Dogville nearly $8,000 with PSO rebates as part of our Small Business program. We were very happy to be able to assist Dogville Daycare & Boarding with making their daily operation more energy efficient allowing for energy savings to be used towards their tail-wagging residents.
