I&M TO CONDUCT AERIAL INSPECTIONS BEGINNING NEXT WEEK

FORT WAYNE, Ind., April 25, 2014 – Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), an operating unit of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), will conduct helicopter aerial inspections of its high-voltage lines beginning April 28 as part of its ongoing program to maintain the reliability of the electric transmission system. The flights will inspect transmission lines in and around Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Muncie, IN, as well as in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

The approximate inspection dates are:

Muncie

April 28 – May 3

South Bend, IN

April 28 – May 5

Upper Sandusky, OH

I&M’s contractor, Due North Aviation, will conduct the inspection and maintenance work using two Bell Jet Ranger helicopters with tail numbers N105JD (gray) & N518Z (red, white & blue). The aircraft will fly about 50-100 feet above the lines at a speed of 40 – 45 mph, covering about 350 miles each day.
