POWERING A GREENER FUTURE FOR ALL

We inherit a legacy of innovation, a boundless quest for possibilities. It’s how we make life better for us, our families, and our communities. We carry forward this tradition of innovation, serving up cleaner ways to create energy, spark creativity, and light imaginations. We constantly strive for new solutions to old problems, to make our lives, and our earth, better.

Wind provides 24% of our energy mix today, giving our communities dependable, renewable low-cost power.
Natural gas currently provides a significant portion of our energy mix as well and will continue to be an increasingly important fuel source for power generation.

Fuel-Free Power Plan

On May 4, 2023, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission approved PSO's Fuel-Free Power Plan to purchase three new wind farms and three new solar facilities, allowing PSO to add 995.5 megawatts of energy to its generation mix. As a result, PSO customers will see their monthly bills go down starting in early 2026. This will complement PSO’s natural gas generation facilities, providing reliable, affordable power.

Benefits include:

Continued Reliability

PSO ownership puts reliability at the forefront by adopting design standards (including cold weather and turbine packages) that keep the facilities online throughout the year and especially during times of grid stress.

Stable Prices and Long-Term Affordability

These facilities insulate PSO customers against sudden spikes in natural gas prices.

Economic Growth

More than half of prospective businesses considering expanding or locating in PSO’s service area require access to renewable energy. These facilities make our service area more competitive for attracting jobs and investment.

PSO Customers Already Benefit from the Fuel Savings of Wind Energy

The wind farms of the North Central Energy Facilities are estimated to save customers at least $156 million in fuel costs from October 2022 to December 2023.

PSO's North Central Energy Facilities are Now Online

Our wind plan, which was approved by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission on February 20, 2020, adds 675 megawatts (MW) of Oklahoma wind-generated power. The North Central Energy Facilities increases wind capacity while lowering customer bills and boosting Oklahoma’s rural economy with a $2 billion investment.

Customers can now expect:

Lower Customer Bills

Customers will save over $1 billion, net of cost, during the time these three facilities are in service. This will provide a low-cost, renewable energy resource to help maintain stable rates over the next 30 years.

Boost Local Economies

Approximately $2 billion was invested in Oklahoma’s economy with our investment totaling $908 million. This economic boost created jobs in construction, operations and maintenance while continuing to generate increased revenues for schools and infrastructure across our state.

Build a Clean Energy Future

Oklahoma wind will power more of the energy needed for homes and businesses. Affordable and renewable energy attracts new investment to our state while giving customers clean, reliable energy.
