Indian Health Care Resource Center

The native American community has always been important to PSO. PSO and its employees support the Indian Health Care Resource Center and the native American community. The IHCRC is a nonprofit outpatient primary care facility serving 150 different tribes. PSO provides support and volunteers to many of the IHCRC’s programs including Running Strong, a running group for Native American youth and adults, started with the help of PSO. We know that promoting healthy happy living will go a long way in building a strong community.

Kids and Robots

Volunteers from Public Service Company of Oklahoma help support Oklahoma students in science, technology, engineering, and math. They work to help kids accomplish their goals, creating a love for science that they’ll pursue into the future. It’s a program the kids love. After all, it’s not every day kids get to help build and program robots that take over the elementary school.

Tulsa University Solar Power

Public Service Company of Oklahoma installed one of the state’s largest rooftop solar installations on top of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa. The 300-kilowatt system generates the same amount of solar energy harvested by 75 residential structures, earning the college sustainability accolades from the Princeton Review. This impressive advancement is powering the University of Tulsa’s Michael D. Case Tennis Center. It’s all part of an ongoing effort to promote a campus culture focused on increasing sustainability, earning the coveted 2015 Henry Bellmon Sustainability Award for Quality of Life.

Scor3card Gold Award

Sustainability is not an Olympic sport, but achieving a Gold award in this field takes an Olympic-sized level of dedication as demonstrated in PSO's earning Gold in Sustainable Tulsa's annual Scor3card evaluation.

The Scor3card is Tulsa’s business sustainability assessment tracking tool with the focus on people, profit, and planet. Sustainable Tulsa created the Scor3card in 2016 to support Tulsa area businesses. In 2017, PSO achieved the Silver Award by completing 69 of 153 Scor3card items. This year PSO finalized a total 92 items enabling it to achieve Gold.

In addition, several PSO customers, including Tulsa Community College and the University of Tulsa, credited PSO as a contributor to their sustainability achievements through their participation in PSO’s energy efficiency programs.

Earning a Scor3card Sustainability award requires meeting rigorous performance standards. Companies that meet the standards report an overall improvement in financial savings, employee engagement, efficiency and waste reduction.

Currently, there are 80 participants including businesses, government, institutions of higher education, environmental organizations, Native American tribes, health care providers, sports teams, and more.
